DefenceContractors

HigherGov alternative for defense contractors selling to DoD and NATO

DefenceContractors is a HigherGov alternative for suppliers whose buyers are militaries in the US and across NATO. It reads DoD notices and awards plus UK MOD, NATO agency and European ministry tenders, and scores each one against what you make, from $399 a month or $2,388 a year. HigherGov is the cheaper and better pick for a US-only team that also bids on civilian, state and local work.

When HigherGov stops being enough for a defense supplier

Half your pipeline is now in Europe

HigherGov is built on US public data: SAM.gov, federal awards, forecasts and state and local bids. For a supplier selling to the Army, DLA and a few states, that is great value at $500 a year. Once the company starts chasing Polish, German, Nordic or Baltic rearmament budgets, or NSPA framework work, none of those notices are in it, and someone ends up checking TED, Find a Tender and agency portals by hand every morning.

Your alerts return too much civilian work

Keyword alerts match every agency that buys what you sell. A machining shop that makes vehicle brackets gets highway department and transit bids alongside the Army ones. We drop non-defense buyers before anything reaches you, then score what is left against a plain-English capability profile, so the daily email is a short list with the reason each row matched. Try it in the form at the top of this page.

Recompetes and primes matter more than open bids

Many defense SMEs win through primes and recompetes rather than open solicitations. Every plan shows contracts ending 12 to 60 months ahead and the primes that win in your field, with the suppliers they already use from reported subawards.

Running HigherGov and DefenceContractors side by side

1. Keep HigherGov for US civilian and SLED work

At $500 to $2,500 a year it is hard to beat for US civilian and state bids. Many defense exporters keep one HigherGov seat and add us only for the defense and European side.

2. Turn your saved searches into capability profiles

Write each product line in plain English, adding NAICS or PSC codes if you have them. Pro includes 2 profiles, Business 10 and Enterprise 50, and each one becomes a scored daily list.

3. Compare one month of results

Run both for the same four weeks and count the notices you would actually bid on. For most defense suppliers the gap shows in NATO and European tenders and in recompetes.

4. Move the team when the numbers say so

Business includes 5 seats with roles and invitations, Enterprise 25 seats plus API access and SSO. Exports go to Excel or CSV for your CRM. Plans and limits are on the pricing page.

Questions about HigherGov alternatives

What are the alternatives to HigherGov?
The main alternatives are GovTribe, GovWin IQ from Deltek, GovSpend and Bloomberg Government for US public sector work. For defense suppliers that also sell to NATO and European ministries, DefenceContractors covers US DoD, UK MOD, NATO agency and EU tenders in one scored list. See our GovTribe alternative and GovWin alternative comparisons.
How much does HigherGov cost?
HigherGov publishes three plans billed yearly. Starter costs $500 a year for one user, Standard costs $2,500 a year for up to 10 users, and Enterprise is priced by quote with unlimited users. Every plan includes federal and state and local opportunities, forecasts, alerts and API access; the plans differ mainly in users, export limits and support.
Is HigherGov better than GovWin?
On price, yes. HigherGov costs $500 to $2,500 a year where GovWin IQ quotes usually start above $12,000. GovWin IQ still has the deeper analyst research and program history. Neither covers NATO agency or European ministry tenders, which is where a defense-only tool fills the gap. Our GovWin pricing guide has the cost detail.
Is DefenceContractors cheaper than HigherGov?
No. HigherGov Starter is $500 a year and our Pro plan is $2,388 a year billed yearly. You pay the difference for UK MOD, NATO and EU defense tenders, defense-only buyers, fit scoring and monthly billing. If your work is only US civilian and SLED, HigherGov is the better value.
Does HigherGov cover NATO or European defense tenders?
No. HigherGov covers US federal, state and local government data. NSPA and NCIA tenders, UK MOD notices and EU ministry tenders on TED are outside its scope, which is the main reason defense exporters add a second tool.
Can I pay monthly instead of yearly?
Yes. Every DefenceContractors plan can be paid monthly and cancelled at the end of the paid month, and yearly billing costs half the monthly rate. HigherGov and GovTribe sell yearly plans. See the refund policy.
